OPTOMETRY INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

Eligibility

  1. The candidate must have completed a Bachelor's degree in Optometry.
  2. The program will run for a period of six months
  3. Interns will be assigned to a supervising optometrist who will provide guidance and supervision throughout the program. 
  4. Interns will be required to complete a set of learning objectives, as outlined by the program coordinator. 
  5. Interns will be required to attend regular meetings with their supervising optometrist to discuss progress and provide feedback.
  6. Interns will be required to maintain a logbook of their experiences, including patient encounters and procedures performed.
  7. Interns will be required to complete a final project or presentation at the end of the program.

Applications are accepted twice a year for the Spring and Fall sessions:

  • January intake
  • July intake
     

Early applications are encouraged as seats are limited and shortlisted candidates are processed on a rolling basis.


The candidate must have completed a Bachelor's degree in Optometry.  

Selection is based on academic background, motivation, and availability for training.


No. You must have a complete bachelor's degree to apply.


 

Yes. A need-based scholarship is available for eligible students who require financial support to participate in the internship.


 

6 Months.


 

Interns gain hands-on experience in:

  • Basic eye examinations
  • Vision testing
  • Patient interaction and counselling
  • Clinical workflows
  • Community eye health practices
     

This internship is designed to bridge theory and real-world clinical practice.


This is primarily a training and learning opportunity. However, selected interns may qualify for financial support through the scholarship program.

 Yes. Interns who successfully complete the program will receive an Internship Completion Certificate.
